The recent III Conference on Culture, Communication, and Video Games: Gamification and Virtual Reality in Educational Environments (Seville, Spain), hosted by the RTVE-US Chair, underscored the transformative potential of immersive technologies and game mechanics in modern learning.
A key project presented was MEGASKILLS, introduced by Flavio Escribano. MEGASKILLS addresses the growing demand for soft skills in a volatile job market by empirically investigating the correlation between playing commercial video games and the development and assessment of crucial soft skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, and time management. Overall, the conference highlighted that in an era where AI is automating knowledge, the focus of education must shift to developing these transversal, uniquely human competencies.
