SoftSkills for Society: MEGASKILLS at KNOWCON 2025

In earlyDecember, the 20th anniversary edition of the international scientific conference KNOWCON: Knowledge on Economics and Management was held at theDepartment of Economic and Managerial Studies, Faculty of Arts, Palacký University Olomouc. Throughout the duration of the MEGASKILLS project, the conference has been linked to the project in order to inform both the academic community and students - who also participate in large numbers - about its achieved outputs.

In this year’s edition, one conference section was dedicated to the topic SoftSkills in Business, Management and Management Education. The Palacký University MEGASKILLS team presented the paper Soft Skills as Civic Skills:Rethinking 21st-Century Skills Frameworks. The aim of the contribution was to stimulate discussion on the importance of soft skills not only in relation to employability and economic performance, but also within a broader societal context. The conference proceedings, including all presented papers, are available here. Conference discussions also revealed that the soft skills frameworks published in the open-access book by the Palacký University MEGASKILLS team are already being used at several universities, for example inAustria.

The conference confirmed the continuously growing importance of human soft skills in combination with increasingly sophisticated technologies emerging in contemporary society.

The outputs of the MEGASKILLS project therefore demonstrate significant potential for further application in both research and practice.
